Together, we make it better for young people

Every day young people need the hospital’s help, it could be from an accident or because of an illness. It could be something that means a Tiny purple and red flowerquick visit, a short stay or it can be weeks and months of treatment. For some young people, with more complex difficulties, they can need the hospital from a young age to adulthood, meaning it becomes a huge part of their lives.

Tiny pink flowerWhatever the case – hospital can feel lonely, scary, big, and impersonal. It can feel like your whole world is being put on hold. It can take you away from things that make you feel safe. Even adults feel this way when they come into hospital.

Tiny orange and yellow flowerYou help us to bring a better experience for those children and young people through your donations and support.

Tiny red and purple flowerBy little things, or by big interventions, Derriford Children’s Cancer Service, Children’s Happy Hospitals and Plymouth Hospitals Charity have transformed both the environment, and the support that children and young people receive.

Tiny pink flowerFrom decorating wards to creating a playroom, creating and providing resources for patients to specialist medical equipment, providing toys or support to families – with your help, these funds have been working with and for young people in Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall to transform the way they feel about coming to hospital.

There is always more that you can help us do.

Four illustrations, each a circle shape in a blue frame. The first is some young people jumping for joy, with a sun behind them; the second is a black, smiling teddy bear wearing a crown - they have bright cherry like cheeks; the 3rd is a rabbit and a fox reading a book of fairy tales; the fourth is a young woman and a young man jumping - the man is reaching to hit a football - there is a heart above them.
